first pussy willows...

Here in my neck of the woods....we had an unseasonably warm and snow-free winter (in 50 years I think I heard), then an early spring, and then, of course, one last little blast of winter (in the first week of spring). My way to work takes me down a grid road through a low, boggy area. Today I saw my first pussy willows of the year!!!!!!!!!!
Probably not a really big moment for anyone else but I love, love, love pussy willows for a few reasons. First, I think, because my grandmother had a huge vase (waist high) of them in her living room for as long as I can remember. Second, because, living in Saskatchewan, they are the second (morning, chirping birds being the first) sign that yes, spring really is coming! Third, they are a sign of renewal for me. Everything renews itself and is alive again.
About this time, as I've "blogged" before (love using that term in connection with me--so "cool and hip"--which by saying, probably makes me "uncool and unhip"), I feel a pull to get outside, run a marathon, get fit/skinny, etc. etc. This year, however, is a tad different--I've got a jumpstart on it!!! Part of the "get fit" is already part of my normal life, now!! Woo Hoo!!
This year I'm not wishing for renewal, I'm renewing!!
