Simple Pleasures Are The Best!

Thursday, March 18, 2010

My 5 year old grandson, Nick, spent the night with us last night. He was so excited that a leprechan had been at his preshcool earlier that day! I asked, "Nick, how did you know he had been there?" With wide eyes and innocense, "There were footprints we could see and our reading circle was a mess! The leprechan did it! Can we hunt for leprechans?" While I rode my recumbant bike I had Nick making us leprechan "finding guns" with legos. He thought we should have walkie-talkies too, so he made us those as well. During this building phase my husband hid some gold $1 coins. Afterwards we all went on a" leprechan hunt"! Much to my grandsons' joy, we starting finding the leprechans' gold trail of coins as he was running from us. Eventually, this trail led to my grandsons bed were a small pile of coins were under his teddy bear! We told him he must of really scared the leprechan because he left behind all his gold! The look of excitement and watching his detective-like moves as we searched for his leprechan were priceless! As I listened to him retell his adventure on the phone to his parents my heart just swelled with love and gratitude for such precious gifts in my life! As he hung up the phone he said, "Mom, if you find any gold coins at home, call me. I think the leprechan is heading to our house!" Isn't life just wonderful?!!!
