Mediafast

Thursday, March 18, 2010

So I have had this challenge to take a mediafast for a while... means only reading e-mail once a day, no surfing without a mission and no entertainment online. I unsubscribed for a couple of e-maillsts including spark people daily mails and it feels kind of scary because I am so used to it. I also feel BIG reluctance towards unsubscribing to a list I have been a member on for twelve years because the people on it are journalists, pr-people, writers and politicians and they will think that I am totally wacko if I voluntary narrow my internet-consumption... therefore i will have to do it.

I really fear to do this because I am used to fill my days with the noise from the world...

What about Spark people then? I am having my hundred day project and I think I need spark people to stay focused. For now I will try to login each morning and write a blog post... no huddling, no tracking, no trivia, no polls... I will start with tomorrow and then I will see.

Thanks for reading

It is good since it is your decision.
    Always a measure.!
Dependency and addiction is challenging free will and freedom.
I will not hide , though, my fear to loose you from our Sparkcommunity.
I will support any decision of yours as a necessary one for your personal journey towards perfection.

I think most people would be in agreement with you on this. I spend quite a bit of time on SP, but I spend less time on other sites. I never opened a facebook account, nor have I ever twittered!! Good luck with this project.

You have a good plan. I got hooked on Facebook Bewjeweled. I was a champion, no one could come close to my scores....but the time spent online, is time wasted! I should be using that time to MOVE!! Shake my body!! Work off some calories!! It is comforting to hear of others who have fallen into the internet trap. I like the MEDIAFAST!

Yeah, I'm doing similar things. I was spending way too much time playing games on Facebook, too.

I can definitely relate. I'm new to the site and I see the value of collecting points as it gets you around to explore the different parts and resources on the site. But there comes a point when you got to cut back only to what truly adds value to your day and life... Best of luck in your efforts.

Totally agree here - I spend far too much time on my laptop and particularly this site - valuable tho it is. Have been thinking about limiting myself to 40min a day. SO . . . will stop chasing points - check out a few people I have come to care about - maybe write a blog and track the previous day's food. I never plan food in advance but I like to know my nutrition levels - more important to me than calories (altho they'll inevitably appear on the tracker) because I'm interested in healthy eating rather than cals or indeed numbers on the scale. Hope to be able to keep track of you a bit - if not I wish you the best of luck with your various lifestyle changes . . . emoticon
