Day #41 of My Personal Challenge

Wednesday, March 17, 2010

I can hardly wait to hit the 'hay' tonight. I am so sleepy right now. Could be 'cause I woke up at about 5:00 am instead of 6:00 am. Seems to make a big difference to me now.

Walked Penny dog, or you might say again that she walked me. I enjoy watching her sniff around and the two of us take turns on deciding which way we'll go.

Some of my seedlings already need poles so I got four 3-pole 'tepees' established for my pole bean, climbing cucumber and one of the squash plants. Relocated everything to a sunnier spot in the backyard. I have GOT to find time to paint the wood before it is assembled this weekend.

The library has a giant book sale this weekend. We start setting on Thursday, finish it out on Friday and the sale is on Saturday (50 cents for ALL hardbacks, 25 cents for paper backs). Come one, come all. Sunday, anything left goes for a $1.00 for all you can put in a plastic grocery bag. Monday, we clean up empty boxes, nothing is left! It is crazy. Whew! I helped at the one the first week of November. So I know what to expect. Everyone works very hard and we make at least $2,000. So we sale lots and lots and lots of books. Everything goes, I mean everything.

So I have my weekend cut out for me. I think I don't have to worry about getting enough exercise.

Someone asked what day I am on of my personal challenge...let's is my 31st day, so I have 142 days left to go. My next weigh in is this coming Monday morning. I do have another streak going of no night time emotional eating (EE). Seven days since I hit that first bump of night time EE.

1) Almost 'nil' in the headache department - I am SO happy about that.
2) 9:30-10:00 pm comes, I WANT to hit the 'hay'
3) Water is my favorite companion other than my DH and my Penny dog. Love all three, LOL
4) Reassessing what goals outside of a healthy life style I wish to pursue: a) Rusty, Rusty, quite contrary, how does your garden grow? Do I want to slowly expand this endeavor...I do have ideas; b) Join a book club - very nice one at the library; c) Audition for a musical - "Sweeny Todd" interests me - but I'm really undecided to committing so much time to one activity; d) volunteer at an animal shelter or at a high school in the music department (how divergent are these two possibilities; or read and travel more.

Good night, sleep tight.

Sweeny Todd sounds like fun. It would be a big time commitment, on the other hand, it could be time well spent if you are enjoying it.

You certainly have been keeping yourself busy!

I have a houseful of books gleaned from dollar a bag sales at the Hershey public library with my mother. Eventually I'll re-weed them and donate what I don't keep. I am very attached to my books and know it's silly, can't read them but so many times and the do take up space. I can't help it, part of my clutter problem. At least I have constructive clutter! You are a marvel of energy and spirit! Go for the gusto my friend! emoticon

Oh, I love library book sales. My son helps out at our local library sale. We donate books, but show up and buy even more than we donated. We practically have our own library at home.

You seem to be a lady of many talents and you live a full life. Congratulations on all you do and on the weight you are losing. I want a dog and a garden. I do tend a small garden in the summer, but my time is not consistent enough for a dog at the moment. Definitely later.

You keep so busy. Good for you though, you are a go-getter and looks likes you are enjoying life! I been looking at seed catalogs wondering what to do this spring. I love fresh veggies in the summer! Yum!

Great ideas for goals! I am looking into volunteering for the Humane Society and the local chapter of the American Cancer Society, but I'm waiting to find out what's happening with school before I commit. You're doing great!!

Good for you for looking at ways to boost your mental and social health as well as your physical health! I was almost to goal when I started taking a long look at what I would like to fill my time with when I wasn't so obsessed with losing weight. I studied and took on new responsibilities at work, I tried new physical activities like running and swimming, and I took up poker! I love to read too and coordinate our annual book exchange at work. Keep us posted on what you decided to do. But whatever you do - Keep Sparkin'!

You are making a varied and full life as you work toward your goals!
You're thinking about expanding your garden and I'm thinking about not planting one this year! There is supposed to be a new back deck put on the apartment (duplex) and they'd be traipsing through it to get to the work area all the time. I think I'll just do some peppers and tomatoes in large flower pots this year.
I thought of you when I was outside working today, although I didn't do anything as strenuous as you do when you trim trees!
