BP and Gizzard Update

Monday, March 15, 2010

Still working on the right combination of meds, and the doc says it does take a while for them to work. At least I'm no longer in the 220/100 range - I'm down to the 170/90 range. Seeing him again on Friday so he can check my potassium - one drug makes it higher and the other makes it lower, so hopefully they will net out.

Kind of frustrating not to be able to work out - but I'm trying to be patient. I ordered a Wii last night! I'm pretty excited about that.

The gizzard scan results showed that my gallbladder (and liver) are just fine - I have IBS. So the good news is, no surgery, and it isn't something life-threatening, just something that is a PITA.

And (she mentions casually) I'm down two more pounds.

Not bad, all things considered.

Congrats on the further weight loss - that is so amazing, when you're under stress and can't exercise.

I'm constantly hearing on The People's Pharmacy that coconut is good for all kinds of unhappy intestinal problems - they always say Archway macaroons, but I have also heard of people using unsweetened shredded coconut. Might be worth a shot if you can work it into your plan.

Good for you on the weight loss! That's marvelous. I donno a lot about IBS, but isn't it at least to some extent controllable or treatable?

Anyway, glad it's not something worse.

Glad you are taking time to take care of you! I know IBS is annoying but there are so many worse things, and it's quite manageable once you know what your triggers are. Have fun with the Wii! My husband still hasn't caved to my demands on that one yet lol

Good deal on the two pounds!!! Be careful if she is giving you Avapro for your high blood pressure. It made my Mother's potassium go up so high it nearly killed her.

I'm glad you're making some progress on this at least... but oh it's tough being a foodie with IBS! Here's hoping you can get back on the exercise soon!
