Seven Days of Things that Bug Me - Day Five, 3.12.10
Sunday, March 14, 2010
I've been dealing with some pretty big things that bug me, and if you are reading these, they probably bug you, too.
Today I'm going to depart from the big bugging things to bring up a fairly small, but very intimate bug for SparkPeople.
By intimate, I don't mean anything sexy, just close. Close to our heart and closer to our stomachs.
SparkPeople has a very, Very good collection of healthy recipes. My wife and I have tried quite a few, and if we have or know what the ingredients are, we'll try something new.
When we find a recipe that intrigues us and shows an average rating of 4+, we will run down the comments to see what people have said.
Now, SparkPeople has explicitly asked that if someone hasn't made a recipe to refrain from giving it a negative rating. Cool with us, how are you going to know how a recipe tastes until you make it and sample it, right?
Almost inevitably we'll come across a rating of 1* with a comment like, "This doesn't even sound good".
Who cares what it sounds like, how does it taste?
Can't you read? What part of "Please don't post a negative reply unless you've tried the recipe" do you not understand?
Is it the 'Please' that you feel gives you the right to make someone's life miserable. Our team mates have gone to a great deal of effort to share or convert a recipe for our use.
If that's the case, translate the Please into DON'T!
Is it your Intention of bringing someone down, or is it just something you do naturally? If it's something you do naturally, maybe you should visit the largest team on Spark, Dealing with Depression, to get the gap between your ears re-set.
Just being mean spirited. That truly bugs me.
