I ran!

Monday, March 08, 2010

On Sunday, I ran. Not for very far, but I ran nonetheless. Matt & I went outside for a walk yesterday morning (it was 34degrees~ a heat wave!) We were out for 45minutes. We probably ran 5 minutes & walked 40, but it is a start, right?? My leg swelled up outrageously of course, but it was fun!! emoticon

----- In case you don't know, I got a deep vein thrombosis (blood clot of the major vein of the leg) when I was pregnant with Hailey 11 years ago. It is still there. It is from my knee to my pelvis. When I exercise, my left calf swells up to twice the size. My blood pools there because my collateral veins aren't able to work as well as a big vein would. I just have to elevate my leg for a while to get the swelling back down. This is why I suck at exercise & haven't even considered running before.

I am so proud of you!! Just take it easy and make sure you don't do any damage or anything. Is there anything they can do for you?? Again I am very proud of you.

I'm sorry to hear about this problem--but hooray for you for running! I hope this is a sign of positive things to come for you from here!

That's great! Whoohoo! However, please be careful. You don't want to hurt yourself. Should you clear it with your doctor?

    Yes, I'm a worrywort! emoticon

    Wow! Good for you!

I've NEVER been a runner, but I actually ran a little bit on my treadmill when the interval was a little too fast for me to walk. But that was only for 30 seconds at a time! Lol!

Congrats...and you don't suck at exercising!
