Make Sure You Check Your Labels!

Sunday, March 07, 2010

Just a quick little piece of advice... I've noticed lately that when I go to add my foods in for each day, that quite often the nutrition data is incorrect. Be sure to double check your labels. I know for a fact that the lean ground beef data is incorrect. Make sure you add it in according to your label and save it as a favorite, so you're not cheating yourself.

I love just being able to look up things and click because it's already added. Very convenient, but keep in mind that the manufacturers ocassionally change things up. I had a couple of great value waffles this morning with a tbsp of peanut butter. While the peanut butter was correct, the calories on the waffles were off by 60 calories. While that may not seem like a lot, adding that up each day, that's 420 calories that you are losing out on a week. I like to overestimate on my calories more often than not, but things that are preset in serving size that don't need measuring we should be as accurate as possible.

I have yet to find anything that has been underestimated yet, but I'm sure that there are some things that are. Just double check your faves with the labels. You might be surprised like I was.
