When?

Wednesday, March 03, 2010

I have been having a conversation with myself. I ask myself (often - probably daily, if not multiple times daily) when are you going to get started, get serious and get this weight off?

Here are some of the answers I have told myself over the last 14 months:
-As soon as I get released by my doctor to resume activity at my six week postpartum visit. This happened a year ago and I didn't start then...

-As soon as the baby starts to sleep for longer stretches at night. This happened many months ago and I didn't start then...

-As soon as summer starts and we are not so busy with school and activities. This happened nine months ago and I didn't start then...

-As soon as the kids go back to school and we are back into a routine. This happened seven months ago and I didn't start then....

-As soon as Halloween, my birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. are over. This happened two months ago and I didn't start then...

-As soon as BLC 12 starts. This happened a month and a half ago and I didn't start then...

-As soon as the we get our house on the market and we are done with these marathon cleaning, organizing and fixing up sessions. This happened a month ago and I didn't start then...

-As soon as the Valentine's candy is gone. I can't start while I might be tempted by the chocolate. NO! NO! NO! Enough with the excuses! The Valentine candy is still here, but I am going to start NOW!

I need to get serious and hold myself accountable! I wrote down a plan and goals for the next five weeks in my blog two days ago. I am going to show them to my husband and I am going to ask that he help me keep me accountable. If you are reading this and you are willing to help me stay accountable I would sincerely appreciate the support!

I missed your blog earlier...boy, it's kind of scary when you start actually writing the excuses down and how long we let those excuses linger out there...I'm horrible about making excuses too.
Glad to see you set some goals...how are you doing with them??? Doing well?? then GREAT...Not doing so well?? then it's time to refocus and decide to make a difference!!

You've got my support! Good idea showing DH, that always helps me. Will you help hold me accountable to the goals I posted the other day, too?

I looked up the definition of "excuses", and there is a symbol of infinity. emoticon Believe me when I know that I can be the queen of excuses. Worse yet, sometimes I don't even bother with coming up with them because I simply don't think about my bad choices.

Good for you for getting serious and holding yourself accountable. Writing down your plan and asking your husband and friends for help is a great strategy. I'll be rooting for you, my friend!
