Running again

Wednesday, March 03, 2010

I'm almost through reading ChiRunning by Danny Dreyer.
I highly recommend it.
I used to do a lot of running, but I was always getting hurt.
I got so frustrated that I gave up running and only did walking.
To make that a challenge, I would carry extra weights, up to 50-60 lbs.

Now, I have become so enthused again after reading this book, I'm going to start running again. Last night I did one lap at the track. Not much, but I couldn't do 1/4 of a lap before. I'll let you know how I progress.

Good luck with that program! I am just starting out running again too, following the couch to 5K plan that's on that team's forum. I really needed that "beginners structure" since I always do too much ... then quit! emoticon

Ben, this is exciting and inspiring. I'm going to track down this book. I'd like to get back to running too, but I need to drop some pounds and build up some core strength first to save my knees. Or at least that's what I believe now...

Way to come back! I am excited for you and your progress --heck just for wanting to get back out there and try it again. ChiRunning sounds like a book I need to read. I consider myself a runner and have problems from time to time. I understand the frustrations that come with a lot of running.

    Welcome back to the track!

Happy for you!! I love to run, but I suffer with bad ankles from playing hockey for 20 years. I will walk for now, who knows maybe I will be as brave as you and try it again.
