P90X Week One Day 3

Shoulders and Arms - emoticon Herein lies my strength! Not only did I keep up, I EXCEEDED AND I did the bonus round! emoticon Granted, I only used 5 lb weights BUT when I got up this AM I couldn't even straighten my arms completely because my biceps were so sore! I actually grabbed 3s and 5s and figured I would be pushing it with 3s. After I warmed up, however, I felt ambitious and grabbed the 5s. Next week I'll be grabbing 8s and 10s for this work out. I'll keep the 5s handy just in case I need to switch down for form but I truly don't expect to use them much. Each set called for 8-12 reps and I did 15 -20 on every single one! These are the muscles I use in the barn.

Today also calls for Ab Ripper X. I attempted to do it right after Shoulders and Arms. S&A was 60 minutes but ARX was only 15 minutes. Easy peasy, right? NOT! Only made it through the first 5 minutes and THAT was a sad effort in itself. Yes, my abs are weak. The rest of my day is VERY busy BUT I'll try to squeeze ARX in later tonight. If not, I'll be starting with it tomorrow. I will not wimp out. I can at least attempt each exercise, right?

Working out first thing in the AM is definitely the best time for me right now. It gets me going and the pumped feeling lasts all day.

3 days down - 87 to go. The hardest part is behind me now. What is it about getting started that we find so difficult? I can come up withso many excuses if I let myself. I don't want to sweat. YUCK! I don't have time. I'm lazy. My back hurts. The list goes on and on, IF and only IF, I allow it. Well, I'm not allowing it anymore! 2010 is MY year and I will see the loss I'm looking for this year! Hopefully by summer time. I'm 17 pounds down from last March. With P90X and the ShamROCKs on my side, I can do this.

When I started my goal was to do 10-15 of each of the ab exercises... I'm now up to 20-25. My favorite one is the very last one called the Mason Twist... I LOVE LOVE LOVE it till my daddy takes my t'bird away! I also really like the crunchy frog :D
Even Tony says... He hates it, but he loves it!!!

Here's to your progress! If you can't get through the WHOLE routine... at least attempt EVERY exercise! one or 2 of each one is a great starting place!!!

    Keep up the great work!!!

I saw P90X on TV. I was thinking about getting it. I'm not sure if I'm brave or bold enough for a routine like that, but I sure would like to have one of those ripping bodies.

We did the same routine today, even though I'm doing classic and you're doing lean. Yay!

Keep the 5's around for the switch-grip twist tricep exercise- maybe even 3's for that one. Otherwise, definitely go up if you can, as long as you can still do 15 reps.

For ab ripper, just try to do 15 reps instead of the 25 they're doing, or modify moves to make them easier (do a crunch instead of a full sit-up, for example).

    Great job! Let's BRING IT!!!
