P90X - Week One- Day One

Week 1 - Day 1: Core Synergentics
Wow! I knew this would be hard but I had trouble with almost every single exercise. I started myself off with 5 lb weights, in the exercises that called for weights. The push up exercises were the toughest for me. I had no problem with the lunge/upper body weight exercise routine. It’s similar to something I’ve done on my own minus the lunge. I find it amazing that while I can lift 50 lb grain bags and bales of hay, as well as doing bicep and tricep curls, kick backs and overhead presses with ease, I struggle to even to 1 of anything remotely resembling a push up. I definitely worked up a sweat and only stuck with the video for 50-75% of the reps for each exercise, but I feel good. My shoulders feel it the most, due to the push up portions, no doubt. I was surprised to be able to handle the plank exercises so much more than the push ups but still have a long way to go. It feels great having Day One behind me. Knowing that Leah and Alisa are doing it with me, is keeping me honest. There was no question I was starting today, no matter what.

Edited to add: In regard to my previous comment on being able to handle 50 lb grain bags with ease, that was BEFORE I completed Day One of P90X. I had to pick up feed tonight and struggled to lift the bags off the dolly, into the truck. What the hell am I doing?!

    Congrats on making it through day one. I have heard amazing things about P90x and would buy it myself if it wasn't expensive.

    Keep up the great work. 50-75% is still better than nothing. It is better to build your body up and make it through the whole work out than it is to go hard and not even make it 10-15mins in.

    As far as your arms hurting now. You aren't doing anything wrong. With P90x you are working not only the arm muscles you use daily, but the ones that haven't been worked in awhile. They will probably hurt worse tomorrow. But like the saying goes, no pain, no gain

    THAT is so cool! I think it is a super thing to do together, too! You are gonna make so much progress; form is most important, so you don't hurt yourself; and set yourself back so just get that down with a doable weight if that works; you GO, girl! emoticon

    P 90 X will pay off in the end. Just take it day by day and you will see the result. Tony Horton will whip you into shape if you let him. emoticon on day one
