Marching into March

I went to visit my sister yesterday and she probably thought I had gone crazy. As we were talking, I got up and started marching in place.

"What are you doing?"


Sunday is my rest day but I'm obssessed with keeping my streak of at least 12,000 steps a day. I discovered it's quite easy to do this by maintaining these little bursts of activity.

I got a bit crazy in February and on some days I could record upto 35,000 steps a day. I recorded over 30,000 steps on 18 out of the 28 days of February, total number of steps for the month was 791, 976 and my daily average for the month was 28,285. I owe these impressive results (definitely impressive by my standards) to my new Omron pedometer, a christmas gift from my darling sister (thanks Julie).

On most days I do my walking outdoors early in the morning, during my lunch break, in the evening after work and generally any chance I can grab. I am constantly looking for new trails (of course safety is key for me). But when it is impossible to go outdoors, I will match in place infront of the telly and work up a good sweat. This is the one area where I have been able to recruit my DH, he joins me for my Saturday morning walks (one and a half hours of fresh air!) and he really looks forward to it.

The results I have recorded in February mean that I cannot do less than this in March ( I am a super competitive human being!) I have to do the same, or better. And so I am marching into March with lots of energy and waiting to see what kind of numbers this month will bring.
