Fat Chick Goes On Hike!

Sunday, February 28, 2010

At my suggestion, my husband and I went for a short hike today at the newly opened Cooper Mountain Nature Park. As the crow flies, it is directly south of us 1/4 mile - but you can't walk straight there from here.

The path we took was a little over a mile, but not FLAT! We took an hour and 15 minutes, since I'm under orders not to get my heart rate very high until my BP is under control. It was really a nice walk, and lots of other families were out walking their fat chicks today, too!

Your blog gave me a great mental picture - glad you had a great time! I can't wait until better weather here (CO) so I can hike again too (I am a fair-weather hiker!).

You crack me up! I'm glad you had fun. I hiked through the canyons in downtown DC today. Geeze, everytime I go down there I still can't believe how much it has changed in 30 years. I hardly ever go down there and it's only about 2 miles from my apt. Now that I've lost a few lbs, and am stronger, I think I'll start checking out the museums again & play tourist in my own "backyard". Oh, yeah and back to the arboretum where there are some great trails.

No place around here looks remotely like that. I miss Oregon, even though I was only a little kid when we left Eugene for LA-LA Land. Glad you enjoyed your hike. emoticon

I've done that walk. Nice day for it. But when you go downhill, you must go up. So glad you took it easy.

Sounds good. My husband and I walked around the lake in Longview. (3.57 miles) It was a great day--lots of people and dogs and birds and turtles. (Okay, just two turtles did we see, but still...)

Glad you were able to get out and enjoy the springtime!

You make me long for Oregon!

Ian did the Costcorobics yesterday. I did the walk in the neighborhood with him today. I don't do well at Costcorobics - I almost never do the shopping so I find everything interesting and want to stop and "read all about it."

Ha ha, you crack me up! Now I have an image of people being exercised like dogs. The park looks gorgeous, how lucky you are to have it so close by.
