The Life You Live is the Lesson You Teach

Saturday, February 27, 2010

I heard this quote earlier today and have been pondering it since then: "The Life You Live is the Lesson You Teach." These are nine simple words with such profound meaning on so many levels.

On a moment by moment basis, it reminds me of the importance of patience with others and kind words of encouragement, even when your own life is harried and stressful.

As it relates to SparkPeople, I think of the many newcomers to SP that I have met in the "introduce yourself" forum. Some of the introductions that have impressed me the most have been of young parents who wanted to become more healthy in eating choices and activity level so that they could be a good health role model for their young children. That's a gift that can last a lifetime!

The lessons can go on and on as you ponder the words. I think the quote may just have to go in my signature block on e-mail for a while as a reminder of the influence we have on those we know and love, as well as those who are in our lives that we may not know personally.

Thank you for the quote! It is so true. A person's life is a result of their actions. Words without action don't mean much these days. As a parent, it can be easy to slip into the "do as I say, not as I do" mentality. Living by example is much more powerful.

So true - if we could remember how our lives touch others, perhaps we would be a bit more careful and considerate.

Profound blog! -- a call to all of us to lead by example. I needed that message. Definitely the Spread the Spark part of the SparkPeople message fits right alone with what you are saying. Thanks. -Marsha

I agree that this is a profound message Diane.

It's such a blessing that we are able to improve the lives that we live so that we can teach better and better lessons as we learn from each other.

The idea of a virtuous ntetwork is very affirming and hope-giving.

    Thank you for the quote.
