The day the lights went out in Manchester, NH

Friday, February 26, 2010

What a nite and what a worse day. All week we were to get snow and messy stuff. Yesterday they added in lots of rain, thunder, and 65mph winds that people in this City are just not use to. I have had no electricity since last nite at 9:30, and they are saying it could be 2 to 3 more days as much of the City is down and the trees and mess is everywhere. In my wildest dreams I have no idea what to do with 8 kids in the house and 4 dogs. The kids are lost without the TV, radio, games they use, radio, and all the lites they always leave on. emoticonthey are out of school this week so they have no idea what to do with themselves not to mention what do we eat? No stove, no micro, nothing so I think we will be creative and use the grill outside to cook chicken on it, this will satisfy them for tonite anyway. emoticonWe did rush to buy a generator around 7am at Home Depot and guess what, sold out of them emoticon. Well other then that its been a great day in the neighborhood emoticonwe did have lites at work so I was able to charge my cell for now. I told the kids that board games were fun but no they had to have video games and no look emoticonI think this will at least be a good experience for the teens who cant live without so many things. Well hope you all have a great weekend, I know mine shall be very creative emoticon

I feel really bad for you. This happens in our area a lot so we do have a generator and camp stoves and propane lanterns etc.. Not a whole house generator but we can keep the fridges and freezers going and have a light and TV etc. It sounds like you are very good at making the best of things. I hope they get the power back on soon.

Candia really wasn't that bad other than a lack of power. But getting into the city this morning was a disaster. I ended up going back out to take pictures because it was unbelievable.

Hopefully it doesn't get too cold before the power comes back.

Oh no! You've got my complete sympathy! Good for you, considering it a learning experience. Guess that's about all we can do.
