The DREADmill

Friday, February 26, 2010

Hi Everyone!

Nancy made a good point about the DREADMILL perhaps being being a negative term, and I would get that if it was anyone else! But for me, it's actually a term of endearment!

My treadmill is, and for the last 10 years always been, my "go to" exercise. I wish it had an odometer so I could see how many miles I have walked on that thing in the last 10 years. I love that thing! My treadmill area is my personal corner of the exercise universe!

The dreadmill is angled in a corner of my walkout basement, so I have a window on my left and a window on my right. Directly in front of me is a TV. I have a gooseneck reading lamp screwed to the wall so I can shine it directly on my book if I wish to read. Print too small? I have magnifier glasses that take care of that problem! I have an Ipod that stays plugged in there so I can listen to Podrunner music podcasts while I read! If I get too hot I have a box fan that is angled to blow directly on me.

Nope, I have NOOOO Comfort Issues when it comes to getting my exercise! I've got it all! (Although I may try to talk TC into getting a window air conditioner for the summer months.)

Now the other thing is that TC and I have nicknames for LOTS of things. My car is "White Lightning." His truck is "Red Bull". Our home is "Sanctuary".

On a more serious note, I am sending good thoughts and vibes Vandal's way for a successful surgery today.

Have a great day everyone, just because it's ALMOST the weekend doesn't mean we can relax our vigilance.

Bye for now!

Everyone here on SP who has a DREADMILL seems to LOVE it! I use one at the gym (a lot!) but am beginning to think one at the house would be beneficial. Just don't know where I would put it.
Enjoy your set-up, it sounds fabulous!

    Hi TG,

Thanks for the good thoughts - my surgery got pushed back a couple of hours so I have some time to catch up with everyone and I appreciate the thought.

I too love the "dreadmill" and your set-up sounds really good but downside is that now all of Sparkland KNOWS you have no excuse not to get on the machine. In fact I think several of us may start to come over and use it ourselves!! emoticon

I love that you name your cars - PM and I used to do that but we stopped for some reason. Might have to go back to it.

I'll catch up with you later!! Keep doing the right things this weekend!!

I also hope you worked it out to TC didn't have to leave!

What a great setup for exercise! I go to the local rec. center to do the treadmill and try to get there to watch Oprah. I find that I will exercise more when that show is on because I don't want to miss any of it. The TV's are only in the exercise area, so it is a great motivator. I have also found that I burn more calories when listening to music than when watching TV, but I don't exercise as long. emoticon
