Update re: My Back Pain And Me

Thursday, February 25, 2010

I went to my doctor today, and told him what Doctor Simpson had said in his absence re: sciatica, and I brought with me my empty bottle of Aleve, which was one of the painkillers that really helped with the numbness and pain from sciatica when I was on holiday last summer, and he prescribed me the same.

I took one as soon as I came home, and guess what?! No pain! I can stand straight, and I can twist and turn, and it really is helping. He's given me enough to last two weeks, by which time I hope that my nerve is not as nipped.

The really good news about this is that I can go back to the gym! I'll probably be going swimming tomorrow night, because today was filled with the excitement and upset of my little sister returning from Canada, where she's spent the last year, and we didn't make our usual Thursday night swimming slot, and then I can head up to the gym at Fairhill on Saturday.

(Even better news is that the Naproxen seems to be helping my knee, too - it's barely hurt since I took the tablet earlier today, so that's a plus!)

I'm glad you're feeling better Tracy. Back pain is no fun. Out of curiosity I looked up 'Aleve' and found that it's generic name is Naproxen, which is also sold under several other names, one of which is Feminax Ultra (I thought it sounded familiar). So, if you have any trouble getting a prescription in future you can just go to your chemist and buy this instead - no prescription required.

I hope you continue to feel better and are able to carry on exercising. It really will help with your back in the long run, particularly the swimming.

    Have a great weekend.
