Am I Insane?

Thursday, February 25, 2010

As I ran outside this morning while it was about 12 degrees F, I was beginning to question my sanity. Obviously, I was bundled up with all of the cold weather gear that I own as I rumbled down the road to get some miles in this morning. When I got back to the house, my wife asked me, "So is it pretty cold out there?"

Of course, I responded politiely, "Colder than I want it to be." However, the only part of me that was cold was my face which I was unable to completely cover. Still, in spite of all that it did feel good to get out and run this morning.

I am well aware of the fact that running is more than a hobby, it has become an obsession. Why else would I climb out of my warm bed, put on all the necessary clothing and rumble outside into the dark?

All in all, it was a pretty good run this morning. Hopefully, it will make it to the 20's for tomorrow mornings trek into the darkness.

Hope you're having an amazing day!

LOL! You are not completely insane...just alittle! I am to because I enjoy running in the cold too. I think it's because I'm the only one out there.

emoticon You can always look at it as you burn more calories when it's so cold cause your body has to work harder to stay warm while you run!! Way to get out there in that cold cold air and run it out. I bet it felt great! emoticon emoticon

Thanks for your encouragement on my blog this morning. Sometimes it is the insanity that keeps us going. So if being insane helps get you going then ok. But I think it shows great character to do something even if others think it is insane. Have a great day! Enjoy your family.

OMG I ran too and understand the pain. If you don't run you feel guilty. If you do run your nose is numb for three hours! Good job!
