Today I bought a huge block of lard/fat from the meat section in the grocery store. It's huge, and I thought it had to weigh a lot when I saw it, but's only 2.80 lbs! It measures 9 inches by 4 inches, and it's not in a nice shaped rectangle. It looks like a big huge blob of crud. Anyway, I bought it so I can be reminded...and the absolute big grossness of it. It reminds me of what I need to do, and it encourages me when I've dropped a couple pounds. I can SEE it...and the visual of this cheap piece of lard is priceless. I give soooo much credit to every single one of the people on Spark who have lost many times more than this 2.80 pounds of fat, they have worked so hard! And I encourage those who lament that they 'only' lost a couple's HUGE! Really it is so much more than the two little dash marks on the scale. Please feel good about it, in fact feel wonderful that you keep it up! All of us who are working hard to lose this stuff...we just need to keep on keepin' on.

xoxo to all!

    Thank you!

I have to ask: where/how do you keep your lard?

Great blog! The weight I'd like to lose in total is equal to what my daughter weighs, so I always picture how much better I'll be able to move after taking my daughter off my back. emoticon

That visual is a little staggering to me--as I have 200+ pounds to lose!

I like it though. I like the visual. It keeps things in perspective. No wonder I have trouble walking or staying on my feet for any length of time.

Good God, I have a long way to go! But yes, every single one of those pounds off is a weight off my feet.

Nice thought and what a good visual aid... I lost two pounds and that didnt sound like much to me but when i think of a 2 pound piece of lard that is a good two pounds lost... I cant imagine what 100 pounds of lard looks like, the thought is overwhelming.. No wonder im always tired..

Wow! What a visual! That's great! A little gross emoticon but great!

Somebody told me another analogy once..... 10 pounds = a sack of potatoes

An extra 10 pounds is like carrying around a sack of potatoes... ALL THE TIME! And if you're like me with dogs, 20 lbs is like carrying around a bag of dog food. Sheesh, I can barely manhandle a bag of dog food into my grocery cart! And what if you buy the large economy size 40 lb bag? I was actually carrying around that 40 lb bag of dog food. No wonder I couldn't walk up a flight of stairs and still be able to breathe at the top! emoticon

Your visual though..... that's actually in your body, under your skin.... what a vision!
