#240: Only One Purpose In Life?

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

Recently, I came across a card emblazoned with the phrase: "Live Your Life's Purpose."

I quickly realized I disagreed with the phrase. I believe we have many different purposes in our lives, not only one.

Sometimes we serve as a parent, a spouse, a sibling, a friend, co-worker, sports team, club or organization member, a church goer.

We adapt to various purposes every day. But, how well do we represent our different roles?

Do we attack our responsibilities with cheerfulness and enthusiasm? Are we friendly to those with whom we come into contact every day? Are we heroes to our children and a valuable addition to the groups we belong to? Are we dedicated to our spouse and our friends?

Perhaps one of our purposes is merely to encourage others through our words and deeds, our blogs, letters, calls and emails.

Perhaps one purpose is to be available when a neighbor needs a ride to the doctors, like TEDYBEAR2838, who volunteers time to drive seniors to medical appointments.

Or maybe we pose as role models for children by coaching and supporting their sports and other activities. Or helping them learn to read or draw or play a musical instrument. Or simply by playing a game with them.

Yes, we serve in many roles and serve many purposes every day. We may think we don't know our purpose in life but I am convinced if we try we each can compile quite a lengthy list of the roles we play and the various purposes we serve.

What are some of yours?

Our purpose is to live with the highest vibration possible and use that vibration to create an elevated life whether it seems insignificant or grandiose because the elevated vibration feeds the world. Anything done with the vibration of love can only feed the rest of the world the same. Does it matter if you’re Mother Theresa or the person who cleans the toilet…NO….not if the intention is to shine with our Creators Essence. Is this what is meant by “Thy kingdom come they will be done on earth as it is in heaven”? So perhaps the question should be for each of us…What is it that would bring you the most joy because it really doesn’t matter what it is as long as it co-creates his Love. Much easier said than done given our instruction book at birth.

Lou, I have to agree with you...we wear many hats. The one thing I try to do is always try to bring Glory to God in whatever it is I have to do or be to someone. Thanks, as always

I completely agree with you, Lou! My husband, for instance! He's my best friend, and he listens to me all the time, and loves to spend time with me. He's also a science teacher in a public school, and he is sometimes, the only kind face some kids relate to. He's a Dad who needs patience and understanding, yet firm and steady. Well, that's my take on it, anyway! I liked your blog. emoticon Lori

You are more than welcome to use anything I say. The Sr driving can be for anything, not just doctors. They can go to the bank, grocery store, gym, hairdresser, you name it. I LOVE doing it!

    Thanks Lou

Great blog, Lou. Yes, there are many different roles we are all called to. I try me best to give my all to everything I do; I will pay more attention to that. Thanks for this blog.
