Recommitting to Beck's

Sunday, February 21, 2010

I am trying to read at least 10 minutes out of the Beck book every day, and it's just amazing what wisdom is there. Her emphasis on answering "sabotaging thoughts" with "helpful responses" is really on the money.

I've had a great week, a full 7 days on track with no meltdowns. I finally am beginning to see that the meltdowns are just excuses and justifications to eat. They are SO counterproductive. I'm going to work really hard to avoid them now that I recognize them and understand them.

This is my favorite Beck card from her workbook:

I can be loose with my eating
I can be thinner.

I can't be both.

Yup, that's the way it is.

Wow! Isn't that the truth! Love how that quote keeps it real. No more excuses for both of us! Wishing you a successful week!

I know what you mean about excuses and justifications to eat. Great insight & self-awareness. I'm working on that, especially the excuses category!

Thanks for reminding me of that Beck card. We SHALL be thinner!

So does this mean you had your Beck's book in your travel bag when you were playing trains, planes and automobiles? That would have been good use of your time and you could persuade yourself it was meant to be. You, your book and only strangers to distract you.

Really, isn't it amazing how you can read, read, read and when you read it again you pick up something more. Way to garner good info.
