Beginning... again

This being my very first SP blog, I feel the need to be... profound. Which is why I waited.

I wanted to choose a running theme for my blogs, partially because I am writing mostly for ME and I really need to focus.

Speaking of FOCUS - This is, in my opinion what is key to getting and remaining on track with your goals. Not only fitness and health goals, but any goals!

For me it takes finding a single thought to focus on that will motivate me to take the necessary action in order to work toward my goal.

The single thought I am focusing in on right now is this:

If it is one thing that I cannot stand it is hearing someone whine about their plight in life, displaying a helpless, spineless attitude - a victim

Oops! That is what I've been doing -
"I don't know why I can't keep on track"
"Why is it easier for others instead of me"
etc. etc.

As I begin again, I declare for all of Cyberspace to hear:

Did you ever make a vision collage or motivation board? It really helps me when I have lost focus. I look at the photos and remember that I want to fit easily into an airplane seat, I want to be able to hike and camp and do yoga comfortably, I remember that I want to feel attractive in my clothes and to feel confident in the world. If you haven't done that Spark step - I highly recommend it. Check out SOULCOLLAGESUE page - her work with this is very motivating.
If I can add -- be kind to yourself. I am sure you do many things right and even brilliantly, every single day. This should encourage you that you already DO have the ability to make great strides. This journey will be no different. And, the great thing about FOCUS and motivation is that you can re-birth, renew and rejuvenate these every day, heck every hour! In fact, we have to! So, look at all the opportunities you have. And, even if you fall down here an there, the next moment is another chance to do it the way you want!
    I wish you EVERY success!

I have come to the same conclusion about focus. For me focus means never forgetting my goal. (I like to make excuses such as being away from home, going out to dinner, etc. as excuses not to follow my commitment to eat healthy.) What helps me is blogging, as you suggested, and just being on the SP web site reading and interacting with positive people who have similar goals and challenges. It keeps my mind on what I'm doing.

I've been a Sparker for about a month and everything has been going well. I have received so much positive support it has actually been easier for me that any other weight loss effort I have undertaken. I'm sure that's because it's not a diet, but a way of life.

Good luck!! We are all here for each other.

Hi there. Yeah, I know what you mean about whining ... not acceptable. For me, the hardest part about losing weight is the waiting. Do everything right and then wait and wait ... it's brutal ... but I'm not whining (much.)

Anyway, I see you're new here. I've been here about a year and recently wrote a "Sparkiversary" blog about how it went for me and what I've learned etc - you can check that out if you care. Meanwhile, GOOD LUCK TO YOU!
