So I Think I Tore My Left Rotary Cuff (in my shoulder)..So much pain!!

Tuesday, February 16, 2010

Hey Diva's...

It's not looking to good for me. I think I injured my left rotary cuff, I can't lift my arm. I tried a new exercise with some weights & my trainer told me that the exercise should not have been done with weights. So I am not happy. I went to Boot Camp tonight & tried to just use my right side only. I hope I didn't agitate the problem more. So I called my mom to tell her & of course I told her I was going to wait it out on going to the doctor & wanted to see how it felt tomorrow, of course she told me to go see the doctor tomorrow.

I am hoping it's not my rotary cuff b/c a lady at my job & she had to have surgery & can't do any regular exercises for 6 months!! I am praying this isn't the case for me b/c I don't know how I am going to lose weight with no exercises. So please pray it goes well at the doctor tomorrow. I will keep you guys posted.

Good night...

OUCH! Take it easy heat and rest that joint. I found out that for me the stretchie band works just as well and it is more gentle on the joints. emoticon .

I've had two rotator cuff injuries, both from using weights improperly (finally learned my lesson!). The faster you get to a doctor for a diagnosis, the faster you will heal. I didn't need surgery, but required lots of physical therapy, including home exercises four times a day. They are necessary to loosen the joint. The upside was the exercises gave me great arm muscles. I exercised both arms so I looked even. Hopefully, you just have a strained muscle or other not so serious injury. Sending you hugs and prayers for a quick recovery.

I hope it isn't your rotor cuff. I had a frozen shoulder about 2 years ago it what like a rotor cuff injury. I was difficult to do a lot with lifting and moving the arm in certain directions. Get with your doctor - perhaps you can get into PT and get it solved.

Ask your doctor about a sling that straps down to stabilize the arm. I think they make them that some people even run with after shoulder injuries. Above all - take care of yourself! You only have two shoulders for life - and you'll need them both when you cross the finish line! emoticon

I have a shoulder injury due to an accident but even if it isn't a tear they can be really painful and you should get it checked out.... I could not sleep on it for over a month

It's contagious! My left shoulder is rebelling from some workout this morning and at my age sore muscles usually take a day to act up. Hope we both are worring for nothing

I am praying for you. I am sorry you got hurt, and that you are in pain. I pray you feel better soon, and that it is not serious. Let us know what the Dr. says.

I'm glad you are going to the doctor because that sounds serious. I hope all goes well and you just need to rest it for a while. My thoughts are with you because I know I would be gaining weight if I couldn't exercise, so think positive and keep us posted.

I tripped and fell in October of 2008 and tore my rotator cuff. I had surgery the week before Christmas and went back to Curves in mid January doing only what I was able to do without using that arm. I also walked on my treadmill and was able to get in 30 minutes a day of exercise (my New Year's resolution) all through January. The surgery was easy. The recovery a bit slower but well worth it to stop the discomfort and be able to sleep again! I went to physical therapy for about 6 weeks and they accomplished miracles! I wouldn't wish a rotator cuff tear on anyone, but it is worth getting the right kind of treatment so you don't end up with a permanent injury.
It has been a year since I finished therapy and I am pretty much back to normal except for a little occasional stiffness in that shoulder which I can help by doing some of the exercises they gave me and I can feel when the weather is changing because I have a slight ache in that shoulder. I have also lost over 40 pounds in that time and I am 67 years old! I now exercise at least 60 minutes every day without fail. It should be easier for you. emoticon
