Shin injury....

I attempted to go on my recovery run yesterday afternoon and found an injury! I stopped running after about 4 minutes of about level 6 pain. I'm not sure what I have done or how I did it but I get pain in my left shin area on every impact when running. I ran my long run of 6 miles on Saturday but had no pain in my shin during that run. The good news is that it doesn't hurt when I walk or bike or other lower impact exercise so I'm pretty sure it is not a fracture of some type.
I am hoping it is just muscular or shin splints (although I usually get those in both legs) and I overtrained a little last week. I did not overtrain running, however I did do more high impact crosstraining last week due to the weather and needing ot exercise indoors. So I am taking it easy this week, icing my shin a couple times a day, doing water aerobics, biking, and walking. I'll probably attempt another run on Thursday and see how it feels.
Let's hope for the best! I wil be very disappointed if it is something harder to heal but I guess we'll see what happens! I really want to be able to keep training for my half marathon in May but I know I have to listen to my body!
