Not a great couple of weeks.

I have fallen off the wagon the last couple of weeks and the scale shows it (6 pound gain, OMG). After completing my b-day challenge, I have found myself taking 2 steps back for reasons I don't really understand. But it's time to regroup and refocus. I had plans to go to the gym last night but my back has been killing me so that was out yesterday as well as today. But I promise myself that I will walk for at least 20 minutes on the treadmill today and try to complete some yoga in hopes of losening up my back a little. As for my diet, it's been completely out of control. I suppose it stems from some depression of my work and home situation. But this sort of behavior to myself is not the answer. It's funny because on Saturday I went shopping for new jeans. I couldn't believe I wear a size 6 now. I remember just 3 years ago having problems finding clothes big enough and now trying to find clothes small enough is a challenge. So today I need to remind myself that if I want to continue to wear a size 6 (four new pairs hang in my closet) I must not continue on this path that I have followed that past couple of weeks. I won't beat myself up for it, but I have to get back on track starting now. emoticon

    WOW. I've managed 15 lbs and struggle because it's so slow. I've found body-building facinating, but figured that was too far to reach. Maybe I CAN make it a goal. The "men" in my house wine over the "healthy" bread and the "boring" (read: not fried) meals I put before them. With family, and its related volunteer work, housework and job, I'm feeling tired and struggle to stay motivated. BUT after reading about your journey, I'm encouraged that I CAN do this. As you say: a journey of a thousand steps starts with one. emoticon

    And thank you for posting--even you "sucessful" people are still the same as the rest of us starting out...there are the good days (and the not so good days). are amazing.

    Our bodies are such dynamic creations. You've been through a lot to get where you're at, and I totally understand how tough it is to maintain results. We all have those small ups and downs. But celebrate the fact that you're aware of your current status and taking steps to change it. Congratulations on those size 6 jeans!

    Is it possible your body has been experiencing a "mini-burnout" from "over extension" on the birthday challenge? I sometimes see that in my own case when I push beyond normal limits, that even though my body steps up to the plate and completes the challenge, it turns on me and demands extensive rest and recuperation for a lengthier time than I would wish for afterwards. It's good you have a trainer to work with, but you should know your own body best. I was encouraged by your story, and I wish you continued consistent success. You've obviously worked hard to reach your present level of fitness. Sometimes we just have to step back and begin again with smaller steps for a while. Best to you... emoticon

    Pay attention to your success and how you felt after completing the 49 challenge. I sometimes find that I feel let down after a celebration. I was working so hard getting ready for it that once it is accomplished I don't know what to do with my time. Where does all that pre-event energy go?

    Push through the let-down phase and let us know how it goes! You can't lose hope now.

    I read your featured post and commented. You have come so far! I know exactly how easy it is for those old habits to creep back in. I lost 42 pounds last winter/spring and gained back all but 6 pounds of it during the summer/fall/winter. It started with a little here and a little there and then became full out eating crazily again. I quit Spark People and wallowed in my own self pity. NO MORE! Now I am here at 48 striving to lose 120 like you did (but without surgery). I know I can do this. I know you can keep doing this. I'm glad you were featured so you can see how inspiring you are to so many. Keep up the work-it is imperative that you do! I will follow your blogs as I want to see how you are doing. Thanks for sharing your life-the hard times as well as the accomplishments. It really helps others!

    CONGRATS on your success. I enjoyed reading your 49 challenge. I find as I get closer to goal (15 pounds) I am having more cheat foods and it scares me. I don't want to get complacent and happy at this weight. There is more work to be done. I know the scale is creeping slowly up and down , up and down and that is not what I want. I worked too hard to get here!! Thanks for the inspiration.

    wow its like your living the same life as me. i have gained back my 5 pounds that was my months challenge but i fit into some smaller clothes. :/
