I got my new grandsons Friday Feb. 5, 2010. They are my incentive to lose weight. I want to be able to play with them like I did my kids. My grandsons were born in Germany, but will be home in about 7 weeks. I am looking forward to meeting them and holding them. It's amazing to have twins.
I have over 100 lbs to lose, but I have made a start. I am now on a low-sodium diet and it is working well for me. Sometimes I mess up, but the majority of the time it is easy to stay on. I read packages and if it has over 400 mg. of sodium, I think that's too much sodium and put it back. I am allowed 2300 mg. of sodium a day. That equals one teaspoon of salt a day. That is plenty of sodium for a person.
My mother went on a low-sodium diet last year and lost over 80 lbs. she has maintained her lose for over a year. It doesn't seem to be as hard to maintain as most diets because when you get used to low-sodium, you just don't want it anymore. Her sodium amount was less and she lost weight really fast, but she was under a doctor's care. Do not go under 2300 mg unless you are under a doctors care.
