suggestions for clean sweet snacks?

Thursday, February 04, 2010

I have been craving sugar like WHOA lately...like out of control. It is TOM but I don't want to make excuses. Anyone have any suggestions for SATISFYING clean sweet snacks besides fruit?

Here's my main problem...if I try to eliminate sugar I want it more. If I try it in moderation...I always want more than just one bite, which at times can turn into a carbfest! So I am basically UNDOING all of the work I put in at the gym which leads to me maintaining my wt instead of losing. Any help suggestions appreciated FOR SURE!!

Personally I like bananas and very ripe pears a lot, they are very sweet! Try a mixed fresh fruit salad if it is not sweet enough for you maybe add a little honey to it? hth emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Stevia is an all natural sweet herb. It comes from the Stevia plant and has been traditionally cultivated by Indians in Paraguay. It is a bit pricey, but a little goes a long way because it is ultra sweet. I too limit my consumption of artificial sweeteners and regular sugar as well.

I love the Vitatops and Vitamuffins. Enough chocolate in a 100 calorie muffin or muffin top to keep me going.

Thanks guys! Walkingman - I am actually trying to stay away from artificial sweeteners. I don't mind the carbs...as long as they are HEALTHY/clean. I just wish I could break this sugar "addiction"!

Raisins are great... but they do have a lot of carbs. Apple sauce... You can make it yourself and then you can control how much and what kind of sweetener you put in. emoticon

Oh sorry... That's all fruit isn't it... duh!

That's a really tough one... I think sticking with the fruit is probably best if you don't want to go into artificial sweeteners. emoticon

I am guessing that you know about foods made with sugar substitutes and the are pure maple syrup, honey and molasses, but they all have carbs, so besides fruit I don;t know of anything. If you here of anything, please pass it on.
