I Love This Thing Called "Hiking"
Thursday, February 04, 2010
Well, I did another hike Wednesday, and despite that little critter seeing his shadow, it was a spring like day, at least until we got off the trail. This was a little shorter hike and didn't have as much of a vertical gain as the one last week. What made this one a bit of a challenge was the trail itself. A much narrower path with much of it on the side of the hill. A wrong step could have meant a quick, painful trip to the bottom of the mountain. There were places that were still snow packed and icy, others were like going through a mud bog. So it was a workout for the ankles, knees and hips. As usual my hiking buddy and I were at the end of the group, but we were chaperoned by a more seasoned hiker who was wonderful. Betty and I are all about enjoying the experience and taking pictures. Richard, our watcher, believed the same way. So we walked then shot...
We took the Rim trail, it's longer and more difficult
Then we saw beautiful views and had our picture taken...
Me and my hiking buddy, Betty
We saw things that the others missed because they were going much faster....
We had a beautiful hike and a wonderful day!
I'm 50 years young and have lived in Colorado all my life and this is the first time I have hiked the trails I have done in the last 3 weeks. I'm learning "don't wait, live now," so I'm going to keep making my box smaller by stepping out whenever I can.
