Now you've got my Irish up

I’m nothing if not stubborn.
Ask anyone who has known me for any considerable length of time, sometimes all it takes to get me to do something is to try to tell me I won’t be able to get it done.
No one has told me I wouldn’t be able to lose weight – in fact, it’s been quite the opposite - but lately I’ve been feeling the taunt of the scale: “Really? You think you’re going to make me move? I don’t EVEN think so!”
Oh yeah. That’s what I needed. Bring it, Scale!
I’ve made some pretty significant changes this week, ones that I’m quite proud of. I’m working out again, and being quite diligent about it. I’ve joined an online group that helps with weight loss. I’m watching and trying to control my sodium.
And I’m determined.
About 10 years ago I sold Tupperware as a part-time job. I had a few parties here and there, and my manager kept telling me I could be a manager and earn my free van if I really wanted to do it.
I thought about it and, during one of our regional conferences, I took the stage and declared that “I am determined to get that van!” A month later, I became manager; three months later I was driving a free Dodge Neon; three months after that there was a brand new minivan with a bow tied around it. It was mine.
Here we are again. Time to set a goal.
I am determined to get back to normal. One size by St. Patrick’s Day, another by my son’s graduation in May and, if I want, one more by Halloween.
I know I can do it. So can you.
