I heard a nutritionist discuss this concept at a seminar at my company a few years ago. I had to be a wise cracker and give her a hard time because peanut butter is NOT on the perimeter. And, of course, Whole Foods, is an entirely different story. You would miss the "bulk" aisle if you shopped the perimeter!!!
