So, it's January 31 (already!) and I suppose it's time to check in to see how well I did for the SparkPeople's Official Spark Your Body Bootcamp challenge!
In total, there was supposed to be 500 fitness minutes for the month... and I'm not going to complain that I fell short, because at 435 minutes, 1) I'M NOT THAT FAR BEHIND and 2) I don't think I've exercised as much in the past year as I have done this past MONTH (and no, I'm not kidding about that).
I can feel it, in my body, that the exercise - 10 minutes a day, as many days as I can manage, and some days I even took a rest! - has been doing me good.
Before I started SparkPeople at the start of the month, walking around the kitchen for 5 minutes to prepare my lunch left my hip (always the left hip, never the right for some reason) and my back sore. Sometimes, if it was something that took longer to prepare, maybe bacon and sausage instead of a sandwich, my hip and spine sometimes WENT NUMB.
(When I told the doctor about this, he was concerned, but told me to try to lose weight and see if that worked. So far, it's working!)
Now, I can walk for an hour and a half around town - all downhill, I'll admit, but still! - or I can do almost 20 minutes of aerobic cardio, V-stepping and step-tapping and marching on the spot and things like that, and my hip hardly hurts at all.
My leg muscles, on the other hand, currently hate me. :) I keep quietly telling them to shut up and suck it up, this is good for me, and more than that, I'm ENJOYING IT.
I'm going to see about joining the gym down at the leisure centre, too, to use their treadmills and stationary bikes, but will have to wait and see, because being unemployed means lack of funds.
However, overall, I'm pleased with my exercise for the month of January! Hopefully, the number on the scale will reflect the effort I've put in, when I weigh myself on Thursday. :)
