I did the sleep study Wednesday night, and I do NOT have OSA.

I only slept 2 1/2 hours on Tuesday night (I was still awake at 2: am and was awake again at 4:30. I couldn't get back to sleep. I told the tech that I would probably sleep quite a bit Wednesday, and I was right.

There was only 1.6 "incidents" per hour and that is not enough for a diagnosis. Well I knew they wouldn't find anything. This was just preliminary courtesy call but I have to go back to my doctor for the "official" results.

Work update:
Well our computer rescue guy came on Wednesday. It took him over 2 hours to do the restore, but he was finally able to get back to where we left on Friday (22nd) Turns out that the person who set up this back up system did not know what they were doing because NOTHING backed up all last week, except for Friday. Thank goodness that took or I would be still trying to re enter everything........UG (I lost everything I had entered on Tuesday and Thursday was a re-enter day. But it could have been worse. Had I not been trying to write cheques Wednesday morning, we might not have found it so quickly. Imagine if over a week had gone by! As for this week, Monday's back up did not, and Tuesday caused the problem instead of backing up! But the saga does not end there.

Because the server and our personal computers had been "set" by the new guy in all kinds of crazy ways, it turns out we have all kinds of "drives", both on our CP's and the server. Then over the past several months, our data has been duplicated again and again.. It would have been so easy to log into the wrong data base and that would have disastrous. Luckily, that didn't happen. He made sure that the restored data was correct for each of us and by then it was 4:30 so they called it a night.

He came back this afternoon in order to clean up the duplicate and triple drives, and to re-program the back up so it would work properly from now on. I don't know how late they stayed tonight, but as there wasn't anything I could do (I had to be off my computer so they could do all this stuff,) so I came home about half an hour early.

So not only is there going to be still a lot of catching up, cheques to finish writing, but I still have to do the stuff I should have been doing yesterday and today but obviously couldn't. And it is month end to boot!

I hope I can get some good sleep this weekend so I'm ready set go for Monday!

Have a good night everyone....

At my first sleep test I had 60 incidents an hour which when you do the math thats 1 an hour. So I am using the c-pap machine and I have gotten used to it. At least my wife says I don't snore anymore.

Sounds like he is getting it all back the way it should be! Sorry for the delay, but it is good you found the problem and it has been addressed and will now prevent future problems! Thanks for letting us know!

Oh wow. Glad your computer guy could straighten things up. I'd keep him around for sure. May next week be uneventful!

    Holy Cow!!
I'm so sorry you're still going through this at work! It sounds like such a huge tangled MESS! You guys'll probably have repercussions for some time to come. Doesn't help with your non-sleeping situation either.!! Where do you work??

Thank goodness it wasn't all your data! Did you kiss the computer guy? I think I would have!

    glad everything is ok now.

So - I have an naive question... what does OSA stand for? I know that I have nights where I can't seem to shut off my brain and I end up reading to get back to a sleepy state - but I can't for the life of me figure out what the letters OSA stand for... "something sleep apnea" I figure, but can't get what the O stands for good grief.

When I used to work in an office, I had the sign above me desk which said, "To err is human, to really screw up takes a computer!" But we all know computers only do what we tell them to do usually!

I'm a teacher now and I keep all my files on a jump drive, butt eh computer still got the best of me this week when I could not log in - no log in,, no files, no smart board---completely shut me down!

Hope everything gets backed up properly and you can get some sleep and not have to worry about it.
