Had to be realistic

Friday, January 29, 2010

Well, today I decided that I needed to rethink some of my goals. I really overdid it on Wednesday with the amount of exercise and marching that I did. I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome and know that I can't do all that I did without paying dearly for it. I am still paying for Wednesday with a great deal of pain all over and especially in my lower back. I haven't been able to do much of anything these last 2 days so 1 day was not worth it. I had to set my goals at what I can do and still continue to do each day. That will be much more beneficial in my weight loss journey. I hope to raise those goals again but until then I must take it slow.
Hugs and prayers for all my new friends!
Karen

Honey, if it hurts, slow down. Yes you will have pain afterwards, but the pain isn't supposed to be debilitating. Susan Powter had a real good exercise video out years ago that had all kinds of fitness levels shown and I started out with the lowest level and worked my way up. Make sure you get plenty of sleep also, I know that that helps me control the pain of my arthritis. I myself am in pain right now from working out yesterday.

Your post is a good reminder for me. I often jump in full force when I have a new exercise program and end up paying for it later with extreme pain.

Great job reevaluating your goals. You can do this, remember to take everything at you own speed. emoticon

You have to be really careful so as not to do any more damage to your body. Losing weight is good, but if you are not around to enjoy it, then what. You are right to rethink your goal and for choosing ones that are more beneficial to your body. It is definitely not good to overextend yourself. Take it easy on yourself and you will succeed.
