It's Not Going to be Pretty

Friday, January 29, 2010

After going back and forth about doing "before" shots, I figured I'd regret not taking them. I hope to not pass this way again, and it would be silly to purposefully gain weight just so I would have pictures of me as a basis of comparison for later in this journey.

My husband is a bit of a shutterbug and jumped at the opportunity to bust-out his camera to aid me in my project. I put on my blue leggings and my sports halter in preparation for my shoot. I notice that my son has not yet left the house to get the bus. One glance at the clock shows that he will require a ride to the bus stop. I throw my jacket on and herd him into the car. We get to the stop at 8:07am. His bus picks him up at 8:06. It seems we missed it. Fortunately, his school is a less than 10-minute drive, so I whisk him off.

20 minutes after first leaving the house this morning, I return home. Cold & mildly annoyed. My husband has finished getting ready for work & offers to still take the pictures before he leaves. As tempting as it was to bag it, since I had lost all previous mental preparation, I decided to go through with it.

Abandon hope, all ye who enter here.

It ain't pretty. But, I put it out there that I was going to do this. Now, to keep making the healthy food, exercise, & fitness choices so I never look like this again.

Well, honey - I think you'll be mighty glad to look back at these and say "Oh. I had forgotten that!"

I still have, in my desk drawer, the purple beach ball photo of me. I may not be where I want to be, but thank goodness, I'm not there anymore either!
