Ate my first pomagrante....

Monday, January 25, 2010

I bought a pomagrante a week ago and decided I better eat it before it rots! Did a web search to see how to cut the darn thing. Cut off the top and made some slices all around and soaked in cold water for 10 minutes. I loved the flavor but i did not like the crunch of the seeds. So I would pop a small amount in my mouth, chew softly and suck on the juice, and then spit out all the little seeds.
I don't think this is a fruit I would buy often since it is time consuming and messy. I had to be careful not to get juice on my clothes since I think it can stain.
What new fruit/veggie can I try this week?

Pomegranate juice is an amazing antioxidant. I make a spritzer with some juice and tonic water and lime - very yummy!

Sounds like quite an adventure! I have never been brave enough to try pomegranate, but from watching the Food Network, I've seen chefs bang on the back of the fruit to get the seeds out. Hope it helps!

Grapefruit, cut in half and spoon out the pulp. Starfruit are just sliced and enjoyed, not much work.

I had more patient as a child and though it was fun to eat a pomegranete or however one spells that, now not enough patience. I wonder how many calories one expends eating a pomegranete? Papyas are good and so are Asian pears!

Hehehe that sounds like my experience to the t with trying the pomegranate.

I recently tried grapefruit and posted about it and got billions of suggestions on how to eat it! Buy a grape fruit and take the time to peel off alll the white skin, still messy and time consuming but not anywhere near as bad!

God luck with your fruity endeavors!
