Break it up and SLOW IT DOWN.

Check this out people. So today..i decided i was going for a walk. I'm tired of the gym, the same ol same ol, the elliptical, the stepper, the tredmill, the weights, i'm tired of it all. It's a beautiful day in Maine today (or at least it is in Old Town!) and i thought to myself, i need to go outside.

So, i started walking...then i thought, i really feel like running. So i did..and i kept going and going, and ended up running 8 miles. I haven't felt this good in such a long time. I feel energized...something that i thought i needed a long nap to accomplish...but i don't. I feel good, scratch that, i feel great. I'm happy...in this moment, i'm so happy.

I want to remember this, remember this moment, remember this feeling. This feeling like i could do anything, like i could be anything. Life is hard...and it's busy and we watch the clock and wonder where the day/week/year has gone. But really, time is constant, it stays the same. It doesn't go any faster one day than the next...although some days it certainly feels that way. We need to remember to slow life down, appreciate the time we have, the things we can do, appreciate the people around us.

Today i ran 8 miles. I didn't even know i could do that! I forget to appreciate what my body can do, what i as a person can do. I spend all my time wishing i could do this faster, get that done quicker, go here and there, see her, call him, visit them and make it to that meeting...then degrade and criticize myself for not fitting something else into a day that was overbooked before i added the last three things to my agenda.

Don't forget to appreciate yourself, and the world around you. You become much more in tune with yourself and your body when you slowwwwwwwww dowwwwwwwwwwwn and take a moment to realize how much you are capable of. Appreciate it.

This world if full of homework due tomorrow, and long shifts at work, dirty dishes, floors that need to be washed and laundry that needs to be done, those things will never change. What needs to change is the way we approach it. Don't just go through the motions. Do it with a purpose. Take notice in your body, your actions, the way you do things. Break it up and slow it down. Not everything is fun, not everything is going to make you feel good but such is life. Appreciate EVERY moment in your life, the good, the bad, the seemingly insignificant, because they all matter. They shape up, they make us who we are, they help us learn, they help us remember.

Appreciate yourself, appreciate life, make it worth it.

Moments create us. If life is about creating ourselves, and moments in our lives shape who we are, living in the moment, whether it's good or bad sounds like the best way to go about making the most out of the people who we are all capable of being.

    Hi Renee! Very good thoughts!! Now to put them into practice. Sometimes that's the tricky part. But since joining SP, I've found that I'm on a mission beyond just losing weight. I want to become an all-around healthier person, and that includes "fixing" some of my thinking. Being content in the moment is something that I'm currently working on.

    I'm really glad you got out, had a great run, and enjoyed the nicer weather!
