Losing weight and gaining happiness

I have been away way too long from my Sparkpeople friends...
The first half of my SP journey I have been very active tracking my food and exercise. The last half, I have been living my new learned lifestyle and it paid off. I am down to 163 lbs. When I was around 175 lbs my body seemed to have hit a plateau and no matter what I did the scale just didn't move for months.
This was very frustrating and there were times that I blamed my hormones, pre-menopause, being 41 years old and for being weak etc. I almost accepted these thoughts as facts.
When I married, I knew that I was not working for a perfect wedding day but that I was committing to a long happy marriage.
When I joined SP I was not planning to only reach my weight goal but that I was committing myself to a long and healthy lifestyle.
The day I joined Sparkpeople, I turned my back on my carefree selfish indulgent lifestyle. I had to learn that I could no longer make certain impulsive decisions. I learned to be considerate, thoughtful and caring to myself. I changed my passive lifestyle for an active lifestyle. I transformed my attitude from a helpless victim outlook to a "I can do this" point of view. But just like my marriage this learning process haven't always been easy but the rewards are great and worth it.
On this SparkPeople journey, I learned a lot about myself. I learned to love and correct the not so great parts of myself (blaming attitude) and to embrace and develop the good qualities (my determination and organizational skills).
I would start every new week with writing down what really matters to me and putting myself on top of the list. Behind every priority I would break that priority down in tasks (little goals). This encouraged me to play an active role in creating the week that I wanted.
For example, in November, my dog gave birth to 6 puppies. My priority was taking care of nursing mommy and pups. I played the role of midwife, nanny, grand mommy and trainer for the past 9 weeks. I would write down what needed to be done to fulfill my role as a good midwife, nanny, grand mommy, trainer etc. So I would write down: making whelping box, weighing pups, potty training, finding good homes, spaying mother dog after nursing etc.
I would do this every week for every priority including living a healthy lifestyle, finding a job (where I have to walk and move a lot) and realizing my bigger dreams. Every week that I checked all those little goals, it gave me more self confidence and strength to want to do more meaningful things.
I have been doing this for 17 weeks now and it really helped me to stay focused on what really matters to me. Food is now top priority. In my role as a cook, I take my job just as serious as a chef in a five star restaurant. No more fast food or over-processed food. But only the best ingredients for me and my husband.
I no longer have to fill my void with chocolates or chips. I have just too many meaningful things that need my attention. I still have 20 lbs to go. But that is no longer a goal but the result of every little decision I make on a daily basis. It all depends on what I make my top priority. I have noticed that as long as healthy food and an active lifestyle are my priorities, losing weight is an automatic nice side effect.
I have also learned to not wait till I feel like cooking, walking etc. When I just cook or walk, great feelings are an automatic result. Therefore, becoming independent of my emotions has also been a part of this journey.
