My bike is in the living room.

Saturday, January 16, 2010

I set up the bike on the resistance machine this morning. I can now officially ride my bike in the house. Works pretty good, too! I thought it would be more wobbly.

My daughter, of course, wants me to hook up HER bike, now that she sees me having some indoor bike fun.

But this is not the first time I've enjoyed indoor biking.

Back when I was in my late teens, I shared an apartment with some other adventurous guys. One of them had a bicycle, which he stored in the hallway. The kitchenette had two entrances. It was possible to walk from the kitchen into the living room, then to the dining area, and back into the kitchenette.

It was also possible to BIKE in the same route.

You couldn't get any speed. But there was just enough room to do slow laps around the apartment. And with some rearranging of the furniture, we were able to increase the circumference, for a burst of speed in the living room. Not enough speed, though, to jump a ramp. It was tried.

I wonder what the downstairs neighbors thought. Sorry, Willie, if you happen to be reading this.

Have a good weekend, all!

great, now you don't have any excuse not to exercise...and it's only fair to hook your daughter up too. it's all in the name of good health and making it a family affair.

That sounds like exactly what I am about to have in MY house except without the ramp jumping or riding through the kitchen...

A bike in your living room is ok if you can take it down off the blocks and back outside after a while OR you're 18...

But I am really getting skeevy about the whole bike as sculpture idea I have somehow let myself in for...

How do I get myself into these things?

    (Oh, but good job YOU!)
