I was pushed off the ledge

Saturday, January 16, 2010

So Wednesday I saw the doctor. I got the results of the blood work she had ordered. They come in as: Glucose 100, Total cholesterol 126, Tri 119, LDL 59, HDL 43, blood pressure 140/82, weight was down 10 pounds from my pap visit with the OB/GYN in Sept. 2009.

Personally I would like to have seen more weight loss BUT I hadn't been exercising. Doctor really liked the weight loss though specially over the holidays. I had been eliminating HFCS from my diet. It is gone completely. No HFCS left at all. Doctor liked that as well. I also haven't been exercising as regular as I should have been. Doctor didn't like that. SOOOO...

She said that she is giving me three months to get me rear in gear. I need to get the blood pressure to a healthy level or she is putting me on meds. I don't want that. I have known this was coming. I have been working on healthy living. Just not doing the dirty work. Now is the time to get my hands dirty. She gave me a plan. I get my blood pressure checked weekly. I exercise 3 times a week. Increasing the time on the machine by 5 minutes every two weeks until I am up to 60 minutes. Then I add another day. And start the process again until I am up to 60 minutes a day 5 days a week.

She has me eating a decent amount of calories. Which was in line with the sparkpeople guidelines. It is a plan that I can follow. I know I can stay of those meds. I know I can make it. I just needed someone to push me off the ledge.

Tina, I know you can do this! Of course you're gonna sweat and I know how you love that....NOT! But, if you think about it as a way to stay away from the pills, you will have the incentive. I think it's amazing that you have gotten rid of all the HFCS...that's not a trifling thing to accomplish in this world where it's everywhere. If you can do that you can do anything!

It sounds like your doing a great job so far. You need to be sure and do weight lifting too. Just get a few hand weights and a workoutball you can use the ball like a bench. There are videos on here that show you how to use the ball. Get 1,2,3,5,8,10,15 LB dumbbells or the kind you can change weights on. Its not really that hard and it only takes about 45 min for a weight workout. Muscles burn fat and also tone as you lose. I use Body for Life. I actually got down to 135 on it but quit for some reason (LAZY...LOL) I'm gonna start again on Monday. Got my plan made out on my spark fitness pages. You can do this just remember it took a while to get like that just make baby goals to get it gone. Good luck emoticon
