One year in...just trying to catch the SPARK again!

Thursday, January 14, 2010

I haven't given up...but boy do I lack the motivation to kick it into high gear. My weight has continued to baffle and frustrate me by staying flat, and even gaining a bit over the holidays. Despite the fact that I have kept up the exercise...guess my body is just used to and tired of everything I've been doing for the last year! Not much running going on now with snow and ice, and still no gym near enough my house. Instead, I've dusted off the Wii fit, and increased my weight training from twice a week to 3!

I am trying really hard to have realistic expectations, and not be overly sad that I thought I'd be at my "goal" weight by Christmas. I still have 25 lbs to lose...

All around me are motivated people starting new programs that seem to make them so happy! That was me a year ago too...I was losing then...lbs that is, not just patience!

SO I must focus on all the GOOD habits and GREAT RESULTS I've had over these past 12 months...along with setting some new realistic goals...one of which is to come here and be inspired more!

In the next week, I'm going to make me something visual to put up that highlights all that I've achieved, and put on paper my new goals..

Thanks for checking in on me!

I am SOOOOOO glad to see you back here...I was missing you and missing you but I knew that with your family and the job and everything else you didn't have much time to spare.
That being said, I think you need to take that into account when you are thinking about your plateau.....BTW I also have been just simply hanging and it is frustrating but last night I went back and read my old blogs (well the ten oldest pages of them) and I really got a little perspective. I would suggest that you do the same. Reading those old posts reminded me how far I cam and being able to relive some of those moments when I conquered some things.....well it really improved my outlook. i know if you look back and see the big things you accomplished in the spare time of a mom, wife, etc. you will feel better too.....remember that race you did in the rain? Remember how you felt? I look forward to the ice getting off the roads EVENTUALLY and when it does we'll be back out running....that'll kick things up a notch! emoticon

I am feeling you! I really got active here at Spark a year ago, and it was a great year, but like you, I didn't quite make goal by Christmas, and instead I have regained 12 pounds over the holidays. It really says a lot about a person who keeps trying and never gives up, no matter how long it takes. Be patient with yourself, and I will try to do the same. We have the rest of our lives to achieve goal weight!

You are doing amazing! Your life this fall has take a crazy but fun turn into busy busy land and you have still managed to run/exercise that is a major accomplishment in my book! I am going to get you to go to Zumba with me it is lots of fun! What you accomplished this last year is AWESOME! I have had to remember that just because I didn't keep my deadline doesn't mean I failed... look how far you have come! Just think of it as an extended deadline! You are amazing! don't forget it! emoticon

This is a great motivator for me. I have been back on THE SPARK since December 28. Last January, I had started the SPARK again. I lost 40 pounds before going home to a family reunion. Then when I got back "home" I lost all my motivation to work out. Then in August I had a full hysterectomy and could NOT work out for 8 whole weeks and then it was the holidays...
BUT I am happy to say I am back and have lost 20 pounds (AGAIN!).
    I loved your blog!!!
