I need some advice - running injury

Tuesday, January 12, 2010

So I was running at lunch after a 7 minutes warm up, in to my 4th minute I feel my right calf muscle pop ... tried to walk it out, then tried to elliptical it out then tried to bike it out (was at the gym can you tell :)) It now hurts to walk, hurts trying to stretch it out, really hurts walking downstairs (can't do it)
Any advice ????
I am unsure if it is Dr required or if heat/ice will help ... I am taking some advil now to numb it up a bit .... should I go see the massage therapist?
Help, I don't want to stop running for very long so I need to get this thing worked out.

I would try the R.I.C.E. (rest, ice, compression, elevation) technique.

Is it possible you may have been dehydrated and got a cramp? Did you notice taking a bad step and then pain? Just trying to narrow things down.

I suggest icing it and if it doesn't feel better in the a.m., continue ice and take a day off. If it continues to give you grief, you may want to call a doc.

Hi, I'm no expert, but it sounds like to pulled a muscle here. Usually they take a while to get back to normal, so don't overexert. Suggest you see the Dr. if there is no improvement.

    All the best!
