Week 1 recap

This morning, I woke up and faced the bathroom scale. I didn't expect big numbers, but was hoping for at least a pound or two. I kept my calories, carbs, fats, & proteins in check for the week. I did all the videos for the SYB Boot Camp. Not well, mind you, but I made the effort to do each video at least once. I did the cardio video and 30-minutes of my own choosing each day Monday through Friday. I was almost sad that it wasn't a requirement today. I suppose I could have done some cardio anyway, but I didnt want to overdo it. So, imagine my surprise when I read the scale's result: 176.4. Down 3.2 pounds since starting the SYB Boot Camp a week ago. I took my weekly measurements:

Waist- 36.75" down 1.25"
Hips- 44" down 1"
Neck- 14" no change

Upon further research, it seems that my B-12 intake is not up to par. Low B-12 impacts metabolism, fatigue, and anemia. So, I am now strengthening my resolve to take my multivitamin every day. Also, I'm finding it difficult to get in adequate protein as a lone vegetarian in a family of flexitarians. Our meals as a family are either completely vegetarian or vegetarian-based with meat served on the side. Iron affects thyroid levels; soy consumption affects iron absorption. I had wanted to switch completely to soy-based dairy products from cow's milk dairy products, but probably shouldn't if it will continue to affect my body's iron absorption. I am considering drinking a smoothie everyday and adding some protein powder to boost my protein intake.

Goals for this week:
1. Complete SYB Boot Camp workout videos at least once each day.
2. Vary 30-minute cardio workout type daily.
3. Take iron supplement once a day.
4. Take multivitamin once a day.

Here's hoping week 2 goes as well as week 1 did.

    emoticon with the loss this week. That is awesome that you are kicking butt with the SYB bootcamp. I want to do SYB but I dont have the ball or the dumbells, I may need to run out tomorrow and grab some.

    Awesome! I hope my scale is as kind to me tomorrow morning! I've had some trouble getting enough protein and have found that lots of vegetarian protein options have lots of carbs as well. I'd be interested to know what you've found that doesn't throw your numbers out of whack.
