Weigh every week or every day?

Saturday, January 09, 2010

I've been debating if I should just weigh myself every week (just once) and log it, or everyday like I have been doing. I've read benefits to both, but what do you guys all think? What do you do?

In other news, I am fully enrolled for 2 courses at college this semester and can start the nurse ones maybe this summer or in fall. :) Excited!

I need to weigh every day to stay on track. When I weigh daily (or every other day)I find I can nip my cravings in the bud. I try to remember that the number may be slightly higher due to water weight, eating too late last night, irregularity, or any number of things and it is only an indication that I am on track or need to be more careful.

I used to weigh once a week and it worked when I was suuuuuper focused and super on track. But if I'm not one hundred percent focused (which is terribly hard to do while at school and such) weighing in every day helps me. I can see if I really messed up one or two days in a row,but if I only weigh in once a week I might continue messing up all week and then be super disappointed on weigh in day. I recommend doing it every day.

I weigh in every day at the health club where the weight shows 10th of pounds. I found out that if, at the end of the week I weight the same, I get discouraged. When I weigh daily I can see my progress as well as my failures in small increments. Today when I weighed in, I had lost 6/10 pound from two days ago. That motivates me! Gaining a couple of 10ths also motivates me to work a little harder - although to be honest, there are variables, like water retention. I guess for me, the daily reinforcement is important. I hope this helps!

I'd say once a week. Weight fluctuates so much from day to day that you will get frustrated if you weigh daily. Also, for me, it tends to make me a bit obsessive.
