Week 1 almost done

Yesterday, I did the Day 5 SYB Boot Camp video and 30-minutes of low-impact step-aerobics. Today was Day 6, and I found it difficult to do the tricep exercises with the ball behind my back. I also completed another self-composed 30-minute low-impact step-aerobic routine for cardio.

From what I understand, each week we are going to be repeating the video series. This week I mostly did the video once. My goals next week are to 1) do the videos twice and 2) switch-up my cardio a bit and incorporate some EA Active cardio exercises or Tae-Bo DVDs a few days. Once the weather gets warmer, I'll start back building up my running mileage.

I have tracked my meals every day since Monday & am printing them out each day to put in a binder that I plan to share with my D.O. at my next appointment on 2/1/10. In addition to Cal, Carb, Fat, & Protein, I am tracking my iron intake. For a little over a year, I have been treated for iron-deficiency anemia. My levels were dangerously low and my ferritin levels were non-existent. She has cut gradually cut me back from 2 prescription-strength iron pills per day to 1 iron pill 3-5x/week. A year ago, my thyroid level came back just under normal. At my check-up in 11/2009, it was still a little under normal. My mother was diagnosed with a thyroid condition approx. 8 years ago and eventually had her thyroid irradiated and has been taking medication ever since. I would certainly like to avoid that route, if at all possible, and am researching diet and lifestyle changes that can help. The one conflict I found was that iron interferes with absorption of thyroid medications. How insane is it that I would need to take a higher thyroid dose to compensate for the impact of iron on the thyroid medicine absorption? Not a prospect I'm looking forward to. So, I'm having my thyroid re-evaluated and am hoping that switching back to iodized salt and not relying as much on soy products for my protein intake have helped increase my thyroid level.

The only other thing I remain curious about is how my weigh-in will go tomorrow morning. Despite all the changes I've made, I'm not expecting huge numbers. I guess I'll find out in about 9 hours.

    emoticon we are almost through our first week of boot camp.
    I too had trouble with yesterdays work out when I had to go behind my back. My arms really burned while doing this. I think your right and that they will repeat every week. Hopefully we can do more this week and not be as sore.
