Restaurant eating and choosing

Friday, January 08, 2010

I forgot to eat. At 2:30 I went out to eat, it was my only choice, circumstantially. I thought of ordering what I usually would in this particular restaurant, but this time I changed it. I made it healthier. Fruit instead of potatoes. I thought I'd be dissappointed, feel deprived, but I was pleasantly surprised. I loved the fruit. I closed my eyes and imagined how I would have felt if it were the hashbrowns I normally would have ordered - no difference in satisfaction, in fact this fresh pinapple felt more alive, more energetic somehow, it felt way better than hash browns. Hash browns usually don't set right with me anyway, so that was doubley better! It always amazes me how I keep forgetting how healthier usually means tastes way better! (As wellas feels better)

I love your blogs. So open and honest. You just discovered and vocalized a truth. Good food tastes good. Remind me why I eat fried any kind of spuds. They weigh me down and leave me feeling poorly. Thanks for the reminder.

Whoooo Hooo! Score one for the fruit! I so get what you mean about thinking you are missing out on something. But I am now too discovering that it feels even better to realize that you don't!
