Hello, 2010.

Hi pals.
It's been a MONTH since I wrote some nonsense, so here we go.

I've totally fell off the wagon. I used to bike to get salads for dinner, and since that pattern has changed, so have my eating habits. And I stopped doing much of exercising or doing anything right.

So, I've made some re-starts, and I'm getting back on path.

COLLEGEGIRL had sent me a challenge to do a 5K, and another one of my friends did, too. So I'm going to start getting ready for that.

For Christmas, I got a resistance wheel so I can 'ride' my bike indoors. Woot! That's going to be fun, and should keep my mild skills at a level other than 0.

I signed up to get the application for a bike ride across the width of Michigan. The applications get mailed out over the next few weeks, and only the first 700 get accepted. So I hope I get in there. (I missed the first bike ride of the year. They have a ride in my home town called The First Dozen on new year's day. I totally forgot about it till about 1pm on that day. I was a little grumpy, but it was only 20-ish degrees out anyway.)

And speaking of temps, another great gift I got was an outdoor thermometer. I can look outside and get a quick temp check to prepare for that day's biking (or whatever) adventure. Woo hoo!

    Welcome back! I've had to cut back on my computer time, but I'm getting a nice balance.

    Most of my weight loss work has been mental and physical. I know the nutrition is there, but we haven't "shaken hands" on anything just yet. So that is where my New Year begins.

    How long would that bike trip take? It sounds like a week trip of soul satisfying adventure.

    You scored big time on that trainer for Christmas.

    Have you checked out the Couch to 5K team? It's the next logical step. We need our goals and events to help keep us inspired and moving forward.

    Great Job of recovering a come back!

    Happy New Year Al! It sounds like you have a great plan in place for 2010. I'm jealous of your outdoor thermometer. Although if it's below zero I may rather not know.

    Wootie Kudos on the resistance wheel! I had forgotten about those.. (duh) Used to have one when I lived out west when it was too hot to ride outdoors.. I think it was called a Cyclops or something bikey sounding like that. Ya know how good it is too see ya back here? Tres' uber good! and I thank ya for making my day today re: the heating issue. I SO hear you re: getting back on path. The past two months have been such a challenge for me. Mind and heart have just not been there with any consistency at all. YOU piqued my interest with the Michigan bike ride.. that sounds like a killer, but a "something to look majorly forward to" killer." If you stumble upon any similar (yet not quite as industrious) rides in the Philly area of PA on your searches, give me a holler! Seriously. has been a good resource for me re: finding local and near local 5k races, so you may want to check that out. RE: the thermometer..I grin... E has an indoor/outdoor thermometer that lives on the kitchen counter that he checks like clockwork... OH the joy of gadgets! Can't wait 'til we are posting pics of spring and summer bike rides again.... emoticon

    glad your back winter for some folks can be a challenge,but i see you got it figured out indoor biking. i like to put on every piece of clothing i own and head out. not really i have to walk the dog and i do bundle and after awhile i don't mind the cold. i hate how it gets dark in winter and the whole day is over right when you get up or at least it feels that way, i have the gym and my stability ball some weights but some days i feel like changing my page to say the couch is my new best friend instead of the gym then i get there and it all changes. the secret is to get there. so hop on that bike and spin some new adventures i cant wait to hear them, and next time try not to be gone so long its not good for you or your peeps emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Good for you! Yep, I'm putting together my new plan too. I guess sometimes we just have to change things up a bit.

    Amen, brother!

    You've inspired me, as well, to actually write a blog. I haven't "said" anything new for a looooong time.

    Do you like spin classes? My gym has wonderful ones, and I always think they'll keep me ready for warm-weather riding, but for whatever reason, it's a completely different workout. Great ... but those first few "real" rides still kick my fanny. Lemme know how the resistance wheel works out.
