So, I'm a big believer in using LOTS of carrots for myself, but sometimes a little stick is good too! I saw this picture on FitSugar the other day, and I thought, GEEZ, if I had kept going on my old unhealthy habits, this is what I would look like in a few years:
Yuck! I'm going to look at this pic if I ever think about sliding back into my old ways.
This weekend I'm going snow shoeing for the first time. I'm excited!
So... Here's where I am on my January Goals:
- Cut out Alcohol for the month with the exception of New Year’s Eve.
Yup, I'm still on this one!! The hardest night was Monday, because I'm so used to pouring myself a glass of wine when I get home from work. I think the biggest changes I've noticed so far is that I have more energy in the mornings, and I can eat more "good foods" because I'm not filling up on empty calories.
- 1,500 minutes of fitness.
Woohoo!! I already have 295 minutes this month!
- Complete Weeks 3 – 5 of C25K—giving myself room to repeat a week if needed.
Week 3 is going well, and I'm definitely moving on to Week 4 next week.
- Try 4 new recipes.
I tried out my first recipe yesterday--Slow Cooker Black Bean soup. For me it was very tasty, but my gf didn't like it soo much, so it's not going into my recipe hopper. It's pretty much just blended black beans with spices, and she thought it was a little too "beany".
- Clean Out my Spice Drawer, and Replace Expired Ingredients (I just realized that some of my spices are over 5 years old…. DISGUSTING!)
I cleaned out the spices, but I haven't replaced them yet.
- Write my first short story.
I've started my first short story. It's really not very good (not being humble here, just honest), but that's the reason why I set this goal. Writing is a muscle, and I need to use it in order to develop it.
- Get out of the 160’s!!!
