A work in progress

One day, one choice at a time. That's all I can do, right?

The last few days have been full of not-great choices (thanks again, Boyfriend. Why is it impossible for me to stay on-plan when I'm with you?)

You'd think by now I'd have learned ... but again I find myself up at my official WW weigh-in. I'm back up to 194.3, by the official WW scale. Of course, I did weigh in in the afternoon instead of the morning, and it is that TOM ... but still, I weigh more than I'd like.

And after all that talk about my New Year's Theme, "Just Do It."

I guess that's why I'm a work in progress. I can talk a great game, and can make all kinds of grand plans. However, I need to follow through.

So far today, I've done great. Took a 15-minute walk in my new Skechers Shape-Ups AND have eaten just 13 of the 23 Points I'm allowed. I have dinner already planned (4 Points for Hungry Girl's Sesame Noodles and perhaps 1 Point of orange-beet salad from New Frontiers) AND am planning to take a healthy snack to work for my half-shift later tonight. (I get to work from about 7 to 11 p.m. Woo-hoo!)

So Day One of the rest of my healthy, new life went OK. Now, all I need to do is start a streak.

Your boyfriend and my husband should get together and go to the buffet. Mine will not hesitate to ask me, "Are you sure you want to eat that?" if I pick up a cookie or a piece of chocolate... but he'll think nothing about driving through Taco Bell at 2am, and asking if I want anything... or whining to order a pizza, after we have just eaten like gluttonous pigs for two weeks. Really? Why must they insist on sabotaging? Hang in there... you can do this. I saw a clip on doctor Oz today... plan to conquer this 2 hours at a time.

How do you like the Sketchers Shape-Ups? I thought about investing in a pair, but didn't know anyone who has tried them out. Are they good for long-term use (say, for a 4-6 hour waitressing shift) or better for limited use?

I find that outside things interfere a lot with my trying to get fit. I try to minimize the impact the best I can. I do try and keep on track though. I make a point of logging in every day, even if I don't get all my food tracked or don't get excercise. It is a good reminder of what I am working towards. It's not going to happen overnight and if you slip some days, don't beat yourself up about it. Keep moving forward to your goals.
