There is an enchanting feeling that's flowing through many of the blogs that I have read on the Spark People website over the past few days. Everyone is excited about something - the new year, the launch of The Spark, the Spark bootcamp, resolutions, goals and promises that 2010 will be a winning year. The excitement is contagious and we all have renewed hope in the process. Members are posting their achievements and encouraging others to do the same. And as I enjoy the euphoria that is part of the landscape I find myself reading a passage from Isaiah 43:19 "See, I am doing something new! Now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? In the desert I make a way, in the wasteland, rivers." This verse of scripture offers comfort to us as we strive to accomplish our goals, while at the same time it captures the aura of the moment. As I read it I felt a great sense of hope that this is going to be a wonderful year and everything will be alright for us. God has given us a promise that He is doing something new for us. "It springs forth. Do you not perceive it?" What beautiful imagery! And so as I make my plans and decide on my goals, I am so grateful for my faith. How wonderful it is to know that when we find ourselves in the desert, God will make a way and when there is nothing surrounding us but wasteland, God will provide a river. Beginning anew is beautiful especially when we do so knowing that our heavenly Father is looking out for us.
